PETA, ALF and Jumpin' Jim Jeffords

Oh what a tangled web the Left weaves. A fascinating story ran today by Steve Milloy of junkscience.com and the Cato Institute on the latest crusade by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

Apparently PETA has launched yet another campaign against a drug testing company in Vienna, Virginia, citing animal welfare violations. A PETA staffer worked undercover at this company and claims to have caught this company red handed mishandling monkeys.

As the article correctly points out, an entire myriad of diseases, medical advances and technology have been developed thanks to laboratory research using animals.

But PETA has supported a group called the Animal Liberation Front which is the most extreme of the extreme in this cause. Between the ALF and the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), the FBI has testified that they have claimed credit for more than 1,200 criminal incidents between January 1990 and June 2004.

PETA has given $70,900 in grants and loans to an ALF member who has been convicted of arson. And they have even released statements comparing ALF to the French Resistance and the Underground Railroad.

Well PETA has found quite an ally in Congress -- Senator Jim Jeffords of VT. Good old Jumpin' Jim. The "independent" in Congress. Sorry. Hairball.

At any rate, Jeffords submitted a statement supporting PETA, which condemned the actions of ALF but raved about PETA. Apparently the brilliant staffers in Jeffords office didn't do their homework about the relationship between the two organizations.

And the article makes a final point that I have always wondered about PETA, ALF types of supporters -- how can they possibly support both protecting animals AND stem cell research.....which would undoubtedly require some kind of animal research?

I just don't understand these folks.

Most PETA people I met would have no problem having an abortion on the way to a Save the Whales, Seals or (Whatever) Rally!

How sick is that?

It seems that Compassion for the weak only includes animals like baby seals and mink.

What ever happened to Human Rights?

The "Right to Life" people are the only people standing up for the Right of the helpless, Innocent, person who happens to be in his/her mother's womb

- a person whose only crime happens to be she/he is not old enough to cry out loud enough in their own defense

A Woman's "Right to Choose" Death for her child has Always been the Wrong Choice

In every Civil Society, at least until Roe, It was an abomination to kill one's own flesh and blood, since then it has been open season on the unborn, elderly, sick, deformed, or the mentally or physically handicapped.
