Statement from Kay Daly, president, Coalition for a
Fair Judiciary on the withdrawal of Harriet Miers
nomination:

"There was never any doubt that Harriet Miers, as
the President said, had a good heart. She demonstrated
class, dignity and selflessness today that showed a
love of country over personal ambition. As the
President moves toward selecting another nominee,
we encourage him to keep his promise to nominate
someone in the mold of Justices Scalia and Thomas.
There are several critical cases on the docket for the
current Supreme Court term that require the respectful
hand of a constitutionalist, not the reckless whims of a
judicial activist."
