Bullies with checkbooks

Unbelievable, friends. The sun hasn't even set on
Sam Alito's nomination today and already the Dems
have set upon him like a pack of vampires at a blood
bank.

What are they trying to make him into....Tony Soprano?

Even worse, the gals at NOW are stomping around at the
Supreme Court. THAT'S appropriate on All Hallows Eve.
(And yes, I can say that. It's my BIRTHDAY today, so I can
make all the WITCH JOKES I WANT TO!)

But this whole Sam Alito thing is already out of hand. These
folks on the left are nothing more than bullies with checkbooks.

Here's the Chris Matthews story (put in the Soprano's disk for
appropriate background music....):

MSNBC's Chris Matthews: "[I]'m Sitting Here Holding
In My Hands, A Pretty Disgusting Document, This Is Put
Out Not For Attribution. But It Comes From The
Democrats, They're Circulating It. I Can Say That."
(MSNBC's "MSNBC Live," 10/31/05)

Matthews: "[T]hen There Complaint Sheet Against
Judge Alito's Nomination. The First Thing They Nail
About This Italian American Is He Failed To Win A Mob
Conviction In A Trial 20 Years Ago, Or Something
Way Back In '88." (MSNBC's "MSNBC Live," 10/31/05)

Matthews: "In Other Words, They Nail Him On Not
Putting Some Italian Mobsters In Jail From The
[Lucchese] Family. Why Would They Bring Up
This Ethnically Charged Issue As The First Item
They Raise Against Judge Alito?" (MSNBC's "MSNBC
Live," 10/31/05)

Matthews: "This Is Either A Very Bad Coincidence
Or Very Bad Politics. Either Way Its Gonna Hurt
Them. This Document: Not Abortion Rights, Not
Civil Rights But That He Failed To Nail Some
Mobsters In 1988. This Is The Top Of Their List
Of What They've Got Against This Guy. Amazingly
Bad Politics." (MSNBC's "MSNBC Live," 10/31/05)

Matthews: "[The Democrats Are] Trying Not To
Put A Signature On It, But I Just Did." (MSNBC's
"MSNBC Live," 10/31/05)

They call hin Scalito for a reason....

“They Call Him Scalito for a Reason…”

Statement from Kay Daly, president, Coalition for a
Fair Judiciary
on the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito
to the U.S. Supreme Court:

“The President has made an excellent choice today which
reflects his commitment to appoint judges in the mold of
Scalia and Thomas. Sam Alito, a Third Circuit Court of
Appeals judge, has consistently embraced the original
intent of the Constitution – they call him Scalito for a reason.
Because he is not the judicial activist of Ted Kennedy’s dreams,
and has demonstrated the judicial restraint that is the stuff of
Chuck Schumer’s nightmares, there is no doubt that those who
are beholden to extreme leftist groups might reject the notion
of an orderly process and a fair up or down vote. Let us hope
that those who are beholden to extreme leftist groups will rise
above the lure of campaign donations to enthusiastically approve
this distinguished jurist. Sam Alito deserves a fair up-or-down
vote without delay.”

Miers demonstrated a love of country today.....

Statement from Kay Daly, president, Coalition for a
Fair Judiciary on the withdrawal of Harriet Miers
nomination:

"There was never any doubt that Harriet Miers, as
the President said, had a good heart. She demonstrated
class, dignity and selflessness today that showed a
love of country over personal ambition. As the
President moves toward selecting another nominee,
we encourage him to keep his promise to nominate
someone in the mold of Justices Scalia and Thomas.
There are several critical cases on the docket for the
current Supreme Court term that require the respectful
hand of a constitutionalist, not the reckless whims of a
judicial activist."

For all the nervous turkeys out there. ;)

A little early, but we could use a laugh
around here these days.

Where have I been?

No need for concern -- just went in for a wee bit o' surgery.
I'm now part bionic.

Interesting stuff actually. Had a titanium plate put on my spine
in my neck after getting the blown disks taken out. And I now
have this handy dandy little card with my x-rays on it to take
into airports now through metal detectors cause apparently
I'm going to beep.

Great. And here I thought it was just my magnetic personality.

But now I am slowly but surely getting back up and around.

Which is more than I can say for the Miers nomination.

Man. I leave for a week or two and all hell breaks loose.

But what can be said in defense of THIS?

Not much at the moment.
