WASHINGTON, Dec. 12 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Rolling Justice,
a project of Alliance for Justice, is bringing people together
to travel through small cities and towns in 11 states to
discuss the Alito nomination with their neighbors.
Already, Rolling Justice caravans have begun traveling
through Colorado -- from Trinidad to Craig -- with many
more stops in between. This week, there will also be Justice
Travelers in Maine, Louisiana and Florida, and over the
next few weeks, Rolling Justice will travel through Arkansas,
Connecticut, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island
and South Dakota.
"Rolling Justice is a community effort to educate Americans
about how the Supreme Court impacts them personally,"
said Nan Aron, president of Alliance for Justice. "When people
get the facts about the Alito record, they are deeply troubled."
The Justice Travelers are people from communities in each
state who are opposed to the Alito nomination. They have
joined Rolling Justice to educate their neighbors about how
the Supreme Court's decisions can profoundly affect the lives
of ordinary Americans.
Alonso Payne of San Luis, Colo., asked to join Rolling Justice
because he wants to protect the right to privacy: "I asked to
join Rolling Justice when it came through Alamosa so I could
bring a voice that reflected the conservative rural Coloradoan.
I thought it was important to take the message to other rural
conservative communities that the confirmation of Alito to the
Supreme Court would jeopardize the privacy we currently
enjoy, thereby diluting our independent lifestyle in the West."
Holly Anagos of Miami, Fla., is traveling with Rolling Justice
because she is concerned about how the Alito nomination would
affect women's rights: "I'm a single woman and don't have a
lot of family, so I need to support myself. I'm very concerned
about the Alito nomination because of women's rights."
Rolling Justice cars and vans, and even boats, are covering
thousands of miles and visiting hundreds of towns in across
America. More information -- including a travel diary blog,
profiles of people met on the road, and resources to learn more
about Alito -- is available at
