An amazing thing happens when you have children. And Cheney did WHAT?
When they are cut, you bleed. When they hurt, you cry.
For the past few days, I haven't blogged because my two-year old
has had a wicked case of pneumonia. You don't know the meaning
of the word panic until you see a thermometer readout blink, "105."
I'm back and catching up, though.
So what is the deal with Cheney shooting someone on a hunting trip?
Here's a true story. I was the Dir. of Communications for Tex Lezar
who ran for Lt. Governor of Texas at the same time that George W.
Bush ran for Governor.
We had arranged a press conference on crime and Tex's favorite issue,
abolition of parole.
W. comes running into the hallway outside of the press conference room
and pulls me aside saying, "Kay, you have to tell Tex to stay away from
this press conference." I must have looked puzzled, cause he continued,
"You aren't going to believe this. I shot an endangered species."
Forgetting for a moment that I was speaking to the future governor...
muchless the future President of the United States, I said, "You WHAT?!"
W. stopped his fast pace toward the press conference and looked at me
and explained that he had just come from the opening day of hunting season,
a tradition among Texas candidates for governor. The press goes along and
somehow it becomes some kind of bizarre predictor of the campaign's success...
And W. shot an endangered species.
I made the requisite calls and stood in the back of the conference room
watching the press conference, now with the subject changed to endangered
species, descriptions of fines, etc.
Of course, Ann Richards wasted no time in making one of her famous smart-
aleck remarks.
So it would appear that the press' panties are in a wad about Cheney's mishap
in the wild woods of Texas on a hunting trip. Or, to be more accurate, they are
crazy over the notion that they weren't told instantaneously.
Good heavens. I knew it was a slow news time, but come on. No matter what
the situation, I have a strong feeling that they wouldn't be happy with the
report. Either not enough details or too many or not speedy enough or not enough
color to it or something.
Mountain, meet molehill.

I would rather go hunting with Vice President Cheney than have Ted Kennedy drive me home from the prom. Ask Mary Joe is that is wise judgement. I'm fed up with government, but I keep reminding myself that as bad as some things seem here, it is still the best form of governance in the world. Most democracy lasts a few hundred years or so. the theocratic governments, and the "ists" as in communists, facists, etc., have a very low survival rate. Perhaps most of the world really appreciates the freedoms we have here as opposed to having a few self appointed tyrants imposing their sick will on us. For example, some middle east press is now seeking cartoons portraying the halocaust to attempt to prove a point that the west is intolerant to middle-eastern ways, disrespectful of their religions, or perhaps they are attempting to provoke further violence in an already turbulent volatile region. It seems to me they are the ones that are intolerant, not the Americans. My Mother told me when I was a little boy that sticks and stones could break my bones but words could never hurt me. You know as well as I do, Mothers are very intuitive and bright. Good advice Mom!
The media never gets their panties in a wad when something happens to a democtat. No partiality there, huh? I doubt if any of the media ever went hunting quail and had any idea of the rules involved for common sense and safety. Accidents do happen, even in the best of settings. The Veep used a 28 guage? Pardon the french, but that isn't much in the way of a shotgun. About all it will kill is a quail or rabbit. Less than 3/4 ounce of shot there in a quail load. (EFS)
What happened to Vice President Cheney was an accident & could happen to anyone. I feel if it had been reported sooner this would have been over by now. Why doesn't the press talk about Ex Vice President Gore's talk in Saudi Arabia. This man was paid for doing this & goes out of the country to do it. Why is he given a pass?
The Beltway Press Corps needs to be given a Literacy test, in order to retain their Press cards.
They let Al Gore off the hook with his comments in Saudi Arabia. There not reporting the news, there trying to make news. There sick, sick, sick.....
As much as you'd think that the media would like to say something good about the Dems, you don't see much in the news about the positive things Ted Kennedy and the gang are doing.
To hear Ted talk about morals and ethics would be like listening to Mother Theresa talk about how to dance in a strip club.
It boils down to the fact that the Dems (and the liberals) have nothing good to say about themselves, so the say bad things about the rest of us.
As a discusted Security Mom the only thing more fitting about the "ACCIDENT" would been if a member of the White House Press Corp had been the victim! Now that would have been a funny and fitting end to the story, especially if the target area would have been in there rearend where they need a good kick, beside remedial classes in journalism.
I don't think anyone in the MSM would be satisfied with any explanation this man gave.
The hate of this administration by the liberal press is so apparent. They cannot ignore any opportunity to pile on. They are incapable of approaching this or any other matter in a rational way. What they don't know as fact they make up to suit the occassion. However, I am confident that the American people see this as another out of control reaction that they will try to spin.
The Vice President should not apologize for not immediately notifiying the press which would have brought a gaggle of frenzied idiots down at the hospital intruding on the privacy of the Whittington family.
The Vice President has taken responsibility for the accident and that should be enough. It should be clear that he feels very bad about this accident (which could happen to anyone).
Do we hear ANYTHING about the former Vice President's treasonous remarks in a foreign country? NO! They give this hate filled, bitter, warped man a pass. He should be prosecuted.
Should anyone wonder why the Vice President doesn't like reporters? I sure don't.

Why are you fascists making such a big deal about an accident that was mostly the fault of the guy who got shot? All this hubbub on the O'REEALly all-entertainment all-the-time show, and not a peep past the original 15-sec. on NPR. And NO ONE pointing out he was an UNLICENSED hunter! Scoff-law Cheney! [some surprise].
Let's all start a fund to send Cheney and a few of his pals to the Himalayas after the Abominable Snowman, say, Scalia and dumbya.
