Immigration raids on Monday?

Word has rifled through immigrant communities that whether for "retribution" or for "intimidation" purposes, there will be raids conducted to round up illegal immigrants. Here is the story.

According to the account in the story, fear has gripped the community because of the Operation Phoenix raids which rounded up illegal aliens who also commit crimes after crossing the border. Operation Phoenix II this week rounded up thousands and thousands of sex offenders, in particular those who prey on children, which was great news. This article seems a bit sketchy here about what the bulk of crimes were for those picked up by Operation Phoenix from the illegal immigrant community.

Some pretty staggering numbers going on in this debate on immigration, frineds. Sure, the millions of dollars that had to change hands to organize this effort on Monday may turn out some very large numbers. Or not.

What I do know is that of the millions that illegally cross the border, it only takes comparitively few people to make it a very bad day for many. There may be fear rifling through the group of immigrants here illegally (a natural product when one knowingly breaks the law and recognizes there might be consequences for that), but the fear of what could come across the border that is a nightmare waiting to happen far, far, far outweighs the knowledge that there could be good, decent folks that cross that border illegally looking for opportunity.

The fear of deportation in the immigrant community cannot outweigh the fear of what could be imported through the Swiss cheese that poses for our borders.

IMMIGRATION

Immigration is what has made this country so great! We all hail from immigrants. As we approach the May Day "walk out" and demonstration for illegal immigrants' "rights" let me remind you of a couple of thing. Ideas you should ponder. Things you should know.

How appropriate the organizers of the illegal immigration walk-out pick May First. Do you think they may have leftist intent?

1. First, May 1st- May Day, is a day that the communist world stood united to celebrate the communist ideals. Marx, Engels and Lenin encouraged "the people" to strike or walk off their jobs and parade their ideals found in the Communist Manifesto. As Dr. Phil might ask "how's that working for you now". Somehow I seem to recall the Soviet Union as fallen and so many of the communist nations have or are eroding at their core. Do you recall your history from 1865 - 1958 Europe where on May Day workers were called upon to betray the governments and employers in non-communist countries and during WW I & WW II the communist shut down production in factories and interfered with allied forces in France? These May Day participants were known as the Social-patriots. Is this the new American Patriotism?

2. The second thing I wish to remind you of is the idea of American immigration as expressed by one of the United States greatest Presidents. Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907 rings true today on century later:

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

What do these phrases mean?

1. "Who comes here in good faith" - Is the good faith reasoning different today than yesterday? Is their good faith reasonable or is it disguised in self serving entitlement?

2. "assimilates himself to us" – Does this mean he blends into society or does he become a “hyphenated American” (i.e. Irish-American, Mexican-American, and Italian-American)? Or is America so much of a melting pot that his assimilation is to maintain his native language and culture and expect others to accept his ways?

3. "shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin" – this is clearly understood and the goal of all Americans – EQUALITY. And under our laws one is treated equal.

4. "But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American" – Maybe we as Americans have fostered the wrong notion, a notion that if you just come to the country you will be an American. Have we forgotten that there is a condition (a predicate) that the immigrant embrace his new citizenship, take his place in this Constitutional Republic and exercise his democratic freedom, but not by apathy or by choosing not to participate. Lady Liberty does not open her arms to your lazy, your apathetic, your indigent, your disrespectful, your ungrateful, your entitled; does she?

5. "There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all." - Res ipsa loqutor, the thing speaks for itself.

6. "We have room for but one flag, the American flag" – So when you watch the demonstrations count the number of foreign flags, Observe how the American flag is handled. Brave American men & women have held that flag in tenuous situations, with bullets flying overhead, explosions around them, blood stained hands to make sure that Old Glory flew high and proud with dignity and respect.

7. "We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language" – when was the last time you listened to the radio or watched Television? How many non-English Stations were there? I grew up as an ex-patriot in Southeast Asia, let me tell you I was expected to learn their language even though English was the International language.

8. "and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people" – Do Americans even know loyalty any more? We must lead by example and show loyalty as out service men and women do each day. We must expect immigrants, who come to this country to be loyal as in affect they have divorced their former nationalism, ways, language and culture to become assimilating loyal Americans.

Legal Immigrations is what will continue to make this Country a great country while Illegal immigration instills lawlessness and promotes contempt for laws, procedures, and regulations.
