As Majority Whip, Senator Kyl has an opportunity to take a big breath, step in to the leadership vacuum in the GOP, draw a line in the sand and say "Enough." It is President Obama's absolute right to nominate whomever he believes is the best possible nominee for each available position. But it is also the absolute responsibility of the Senate to ensure that each nominee does not primarily rely upon extreme ideology as the decision-making guideposts rather than navigating by constitutional principles. Passionate activism has its place, but not in positions that demand thoughtful consideration and a deep respect for the Constitution. If Senator Kyl or someone, anyone, would stand on principle and plainly state the case, a tidal wave of Americans who are well beyond fed up would respect, support and remember what has become so tragically rare on today's political landscape -- bold action taken because of the courage of conviction and in defense of the Constitution.
